Rugby League 3 is the first game in the Rugby League series designed for Nintendo Wii users. Developers from the New Zealand-based Sidhe Interactive studio have decided to change their hardware platform to take advantage of the possibilities offered by, among other things, the Wii Remote wireless motion controller.
Like the previous versions of the cycle, the game allows you to steer your rugby teams. The Rugby League 3 database includes more than 80 professional teams that play in leagues on a daily basis: NRL, Super League, Toyota Cup, UK Championship, UK Championship 1, State of Origin and City v Country, as well as participating in international competitions. The production uses official licenses, which allowed the creators to enter authentic club names and player names.
The game is based on the official rules of rugby, and the observance of the rules is supervised by arbitrators controlled by computer artificial intelligence. Developers will try to ensure that players can manage not only individual players, but entire formations by choosing the right tactics.
The way of presenting events on virtual pitches is modelled on television broadcasts. The player observes the action from the third person's perspective (TPP). Events during matches are commented on by the popular sports rapporteur Andrew Voss.
