Roman Sands RE:Build Description
Roman Sands RE:Build is a unique game, that's rather difficult to classify genre-wise. It combines elements of an adventure game, a visual novel, gacha, horror, survival and a puzzle game. It was developed by Arbitrary Metric (also known for the original Paratopic) and published by Serenity Forge.
Plot
Roman Sands RE:Build is set in a world about to end. Most of the planet is no longer habitable, the last refuge for the survivors being a zoological research facility. Our playable character ends up here, getting to know the place's inhabitants, the rules governing it, its caste system and its secrets. Along the way, we're guided by a mysterious voice on the radio.
Mechanics
Roman Sands RE:Build is a first-person game. The mechanics draw from many different genres. The game could be considered a combination of two different games, bound together by a three-act storyline. We must explore the facility, talk to its inhabitants, solve puzzles and fight for survival.
Technical aspects
Roman Sands RE:Build makes use of a cartoonish artstyle and a subdued, melancholic color palette. The game's soundtrack is atmospheric and disturbing.
