A conventional, two-dimensional platformer game developed by Ratloop Asia - an independent team. It is an upgraded edition of the 2009's Rocketbirds: Revolution. The player is taken to a world inhabited by humanoid birds, assuming the role of a brave chicken fighting an army of insidious penguins, who conquered his native country and enslaved its inhabitants. The story is told through animated cutscenes and dialogues displayed during missions.
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a traditional two-dimensional platform with specific cartoon graphics and animated film interludes. Independent developer studio Ratloop Asia is responsible for the production. The title is an improved and developed version of the critically acclaimed Rocketbirds: Revolution, released in 2009 on a PC. The most striking difference between the two games is the screen resolution they work in, as well as the quality of the graphics, which also supports stereoscopic 3D mode.
The plot of the game takes us to a world inhabited by humanoid birds. We play the role of a brave warrior who fights against a sneaky penguin army that conquered and enslaved his home country. The whole story is told in the form of funny animated film interludes displayed between 15 chapters of the game, as well as dialogues and conversations that we can read during the mission.
In the game we move around two-dimensional hand drawn game levels, which sometimes have smaller three-dimensional objects or animations. We spend most of our time, which is standard for the genre, jumping on platforms, solving puzzles and looking for a way out of a given level. We fight our enemies with the help of an extensive borni arsenal. In some stages we are lavirating in the air with a rocket attached to the back. One of the most characteristic weapons that our hero can use are "brain bugs", thanks to which we can take total control over the penguin of our choice. Thanks to that we can freely explore the whole level, without worrying about the fact that someone will attack us. Moreover, in some cases only in this way will we be able to solve cleverly designed riddles.
The creators have also made it possible to pass the campaign in the co-op mode. You can play two games on one screen and on the Internet.
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken's refined cartoon setting and soundtrack are an additional asset to Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken and should appeal to Western animation and comic book fans.
