Rocket Power: Zero Gravity Zone is a simple arcade game, clearly referring to such sports series as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater or Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX. The game is also based on a very popular animated series under the same title, produced by the Nickelodeon station in 1999-2004. This means first of all that in the game we can play the characters known from the cartoon. The game preparation is the responsibility of a development studio called Altron, which on the GBA console market is also famous for such positions as Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, or Virtua Tennis.
The course of the actual gameplay is in many ways reminiscent of the already mentioned Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. We perform crazy tricks, using skateboards, of course. However, it should be clearly stated at this point that the game has nothing to do with realism, especially if one touches on the subject of gravity, which appears in the title of the game, the action of which has been significantly weakened. This means, first of all, the possibility of performing more effective air acrobatics. Additionally, these manoeuvres can be amplified by power-ups raised during the game.
During the game we can play each of the four main characters of the cartoon, that is Otto, Twister, Reggio or Sam. However, this choice has no significant impact on further developments. The producer has prepared three basic modes of play. Definitely, the most extensive is the career, in which you are promoted to higher levels, thus unlocking more and more interesting boards. A total of eight different maps have been prepared. The second mode is Free Skate, i.e. any movement on maps that have already been discovered. Zero Gravity Zone also has a fully fledged multiplayer for two people. Visually, the game is quite good. As in THPS games, the action is observed in isometric projection.
