A Polish RPG game focused on the management aspect of the gameplay. Rockbeasts allow us to lead a rock band on its route to fame and glory - we must prepare for concerts, sign deals with record companies and manage our finances. The game allows to hear the voice of the rock legend Iggy Pop.
Rockbeasts is an RPG focused on the management aspect, in which we take on the role of a rock band manager. The game was developed by the Polish studio Lichthund (their portfolio includes the game Lichtspeer), while its release was handled by Team17.
Among the names associated with this project, the most prominent are Iggy Pop, the famous rock musician, who lends his voice to one of the characters, and Jakub Szamalek - the senior scriptwriter of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the main scriptwriter of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Blood of Dawnwalker. He is also the author of the story plot here.
Gameplay
In Rockbeasts all things related to the functioning of the rock band rest on our shoulders. This includes determining the direction in which the group should develop. We can focus on making money, nurture creative freedom, or stay on the sidelines and try not to get in the way of our stars.
On our path to fame we must establish deals with record companies and negotiate the most favorable contracts for releasing subsequent albums, plan concert tours and set up song lists, as well as provide musicians with necessary equipment and regularly organize rehearsals for them. We should also not forget that the band members do not live solely on music, so from time to time they need to eat and rest.
As our team progresses, it becomes increasingly recognizable, and its concerts (organized in increasingly prestigious places) are attended by a growing audience. All of this should be reflected in the budget we have (unless managing finances is not our strong suit).
Story
Rockbeasts transports us to an alternative version of the world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, straight out of the 1990s. This is the era of rampant capitalism, grunge, and music television channels like MTV.
Our team consists of such personalities as guitarist Paz, drummer Keith, bassist Carlton, and vocalist Vernon. Each of these characters has a unique personality, and the fate of the group is largely shaped by our decisions and actions. The team members are not the only characters we deal with here, as there are over 100 of them in total.
Graphics and music
The graphic design of the game Rockbeasts is maintained in a cartoonish style reminiscent of animated series from Cartoon Network. The gameplay is accompanied by rock music soundtrack straight from the 1990s.
