The next installment of the simulator addressed to ship control enthusiasts. This time we have a number of orders to carry out on German rivers. We transport goods and people on the Rhine and the River Rhine and the River Rhine flowing into it. As the game progresses, we earn experience points to unlock more and more attractive ships.

The River Simulator 2012 is a continuation of a series of ship simulators. This time, the creators decided to transfer seven units based on actually existing models to the computer screens. Depending on the vessel chosen, we have to deal with separate missions allowing us to feel like a captain. They usually consist of transporting certain goods or making difficult manoeuvres in a port.

For players there is an extensive German river network covering such well-known rivers as the Rhine and its tributary, the Men. During the fun we have a chance to reach the Danish border, and thanks to a relatively faithful representation of the surrounding attractions, we sail next to the famous Cologne Cathedral, among others. The autopilot function has also been prepared for enthusiasts of quiet enjoyment of the landscapes.

Initially we have only a small number of ships at our disposal. Along with the execution of tasks we receive experience points necessary to unlock the next ones. A total of seven vessels, including barges, tankers and tugboats, were prepared. Thanks to the built-in editor we can also change their appearance.

The graphic design of River Simulator 2012 does not differ much from other German simulators. Due to the need to generate a large number of objects surrounding the river, they are characterised by a relatively low level of detail compared to ship models.
