Futuristic jet ski racing game created by Vector Unit - the developers of the two previous installments, Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Beach Buggy Racing. Riptide GP: Renegade allows us to assume the role of a hydro jet (futuristic jet ski) driver. Banned from Riptide GP, the official racing league, the protagonists competes in illegal races.

Riptide GP: Renegade for PC, PS4 and etc. is a game about futuristic jet ski racing. The title was developed by Vector Unit, the same studio which developed two previous installments of the series, as well as Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Beach Buggy Racing.

Mechanics

As usual, the game will take us to undefined future, and allow us to assume the role of a hydro jet specialist. This time however, we are saying goodbye to the official Riptide GP league. Our character has been disqualified, and thereby forced to compete in illegal races. These are much more dangerous, as they don’t take place on well-prepared routes, and the contenders have to deal with the ever-present police.

Our hydro jets are futuristic machines, with their performance far outrunning anything available in present-day retail. As a result, the pace of the race is deadly. The contenders can jump over a dozen meters up, being able to do a set of incredible tricks before they fall on the water. During the gameplay, we slowly accumulate new hydro jets, and spent our hard-earned money on upgrading them.

Game modes

Riptide GP: Renegade for PC, PS4 and etc. offers an extensive career mode, in which we compete in illegal races, fight bosses, and slowly strengthen our position in the community.

The authors haven’t forgotten about the multiplayer mode, introducing races for up to eight players. Aside from that, a challenge mode has been implemented, in which we fight for the position in network rankings, and attempt to beat records established by other players

Technical aspects

The whole game is complemented by attractive 3D visuals. The players can notice clear progress since the previous installment, Riptide GP 2. The environment, characters, as well as hydro jets are made with much more attention to detail. The appearance of water was also improved, with an addition of dynamic wave system. During the game, we are entertained by catchy electronic music.
