The Riddle of Master Lu is a classic point-and-click adventure game named after Robert Ripley, an American cartoonist, entrepreneur and amateur anthropologist involved in tracking strange and paranormal things. The Ripley's Believe It or Not! brand created by him is today almost 30 permanent galleries of curiosities, scattered all over the world, as well as numerous radio and television broadcasts, comics and books. Lee Sheldon, writer, screenwriter, producer and co-author of many interesting adventure titles, is responsible for the plot of the game.
In the game we direct the fictional alter ego of Robert Ripley himself. He is being attacked by mysterious individuals who search for documents about the legendary master Lu in his gallery of documents. He was a sage at the service of China's first emperor, Qin, and worked to create an elixir of eternal life for him. He encrypted his secret and hid it in the emperor's tomb designed by him. It is believed that thanks to the talisman of Master Lu, all Asian countries on the eve of the war can be united under common authority. Will our hero manage to solve the mystery of the great sage and find a wonderful artifact before the attackers do it?
During his journey, Ripley will visit many different locations around the world, including Egypt, New York, the free city of Gdansk, Easter Island and, of course, China, where the emperor's tomb is located. In the warships he will be accompanied by the beautiful archaeologist Dr. Samantha Twelvetrees, whose knowledge about master Lu will be very helpful. Our hero plans further travels in his mobile office, where we also contact independent characters, whose help will be necessary to solve the riddle. It is, among other things, from the received correspondence that we get to know a large part of the plot and the background of the whole story.
The Riddle of Master Lu features a classic point-and-click interface. The level of riddles is not the easiest, forcing players to show considerable inventiveness and perceptiveness. More than once we will be waiting for tedious and precise clicking in order to find the objects important for the development of the action or the right application for them. From the technical point of view, the graphics are characterized by detailed, 256-colour graphics. All characters are played by live actors, who also lend them their voice. Our struggles are accompanied by great sound effects and pleasant to the ear music, which appears in the key moments of the game.
