Ring of Red is a very interesting strategy, combining elements of turn-based system and real-time game. In the course of the game we take control over the teams of mosses, i.e. big metal machines. The production and release of this game is the responsibility of the Konami Group. Ring of Red was created solely with the needs of a single player in mind. This title does not contain any multiplayer modes. The game was released only on PS2.
The plot is one of the strongest points of the presented programme. We are dealing here with an alternative version of history, namely the events that took place during and after the end of the Second World War. It turns out that Japan, despite the use of atomic bombs by the USA, did not give up. As a result, the country was attacked. The southern part of Japan was taken over by NATO and the United States, the northern part by the Soviet Union. The real fun begins in the 60s of the XX century. Both sides managed to develop new technologies, which resulted in the construction of the previously mentioned mosses, i.e. AFW (Armoured Fighting Walker) units. We start the game as soon as there is another armed conflict aimed at taking total control over occupied Japan.
Producers' single player campaign is played on two different types of boards. When making a decision on a global map, we are dealing with a turn-based system. This means that once the movement points are exhausted, we have to wait for the opponent's response. When a battle occurs, however, the game launches a battle map. In this case, it is already a classic real-time strategy. So we have to reckon with every second and, at the same time, plan the next steps carefully. During the game we command many different types of mosses. They differ not only in appearance, but also in properties. The player's task is, of course, to develop such a tactic to get rid of the enemy's mechs, taking advantage of their weaknesses. Beginners will find a tutorial that is not very extensive. Visually, the game looks quite good. This applies in particular to nicely presented real-time battles.
