Ride to Hell: Retribution

Ride To Hell: Retribution is a third-person action game about bikers. It was developed by Eutychnyx Studios, the creators of a successful Big Mutha Truckers series.

Ride to Hell is set in around 1960, when the hippie movement was in its peak and the American roads were ruled by bikers. You play as a member of a motorcyclists gang named Retribution. The protagonist is Jake Conway, who wants to take revenge on members of the rival gang called Devil's Hand, for killing his brother.

The game combines elements of a racing and action games. Jake, as befits a biker, travels across American roads in the saddle of his bike. The machine can be improved in the workshop - better parts are acquired through performing missions and exploration. As you drive from one location to another, you have to focus on bypassing obstacles, performing acrobatics, and defending yourself from armed thugs.

Opportunities to fight occur not only on the road, as the hero repeatedly has to beat someone up in hand to hand combat. Jake can handle himself having nothing but his bare fists. Despite that, you can find various types of melee weapons, including knives and wrenches, that often are dropped by defeated opponents. Although the combat usually plays out the traditional way, it is heavily based on the QTE sequences (Quick Time Events).

Apart from ordinary The Devil's Hand soldiers, the game occasionally pits you against big fish. They act as bosses, whose defeating may require taking an unconventional approach. There is also more than one occasion to shoot enemies - the protagonist can carry a pistol and a shotgun, from time to time he can lay his hands on a machine gun, and he even happens to sit behind a stationary machine gun. In fire fight, Jake is able to make use of environmental covers.

In terms of visuals Ride To Hell: Retribution is quite modest. The models and textures are simple, so are the animations. Such graphics style is supposed to be reminiscent of classic American road movies. The developers used some cinematic effects during more spectacular sequences, such as the classic close-up and slow motion.

Ride To Hell: Retribution is accompanied by hard rock music, the favorite genre of the bikers. The theme song is Pressure and Time by Rival Sons.
