Mechanics

As befits an MMORPG, one of the basic elements of the gameplay is exploration of the vast world. In Revelation Online, the world is divided into ten provinces and three grand cities with big castles. We can find something interesting, like hidden treasures or additional missions, everywhere. We can access all places not only on foot but also by flying. Thanks to this ability, characters can go practically everywhere, although it must be remembered that the skill is developed over the course of the game, and we can use it to its fullest once our character has reached the 29th level.

There are several character classes to choose from. Swordmage is a hero that focuses on using powerful magic and area-of-effect spells. Occultist is weaker but can use many spells and attacks as well as heal his allies. Gunslinger relies on firearms and is able to eliminate individual targets from afar or from a medium distance but doesn’t fight well in close quarters, where a Blademaster — an agile, fast, and strong warrior — feels best. Apart from these, there is also a Vanguard, who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, and a healer called the Spirt Shaper. Our characters can also be slightly customized by changing their appearance, for example, by equipping them with various accessories or masks.

It is also worth noting that the developers prepared three control systems — Target, similar to that known from Lineage II, Classic (World of Warcraft), and Non-target (TERA).

Game modes

While playing, we take part in classical MMORPG missions, visit the underground, where there are treasures to be found and powerful enemies to be fought, or participate in raids in which twenty players cooperate to face the most powerful of bosses. Revelation Online for PC has no shortage of PvP combat — they have the form of large-scale battles with hundreds of participants who defenders their stronghold from attackers from other guilds. Adventurers can also fight on the arena, where struggles occur as a part of seasonal tournaments. Apart from the above, there is also aerial combat since the ability to fly isn’t for exploration purposes only.

Technical aspects

Revelation Online for PC is a three-dimensional production for in which the camera is placed behind our character’s back. Visually, it has a typically Asian style so it doesn’t lack for colorful flashes, bizarre creatures, and the like. As far as the audiovisual layer is concerned, the game does not stand out from among its competitors.
