Reprisal is a game combining elements from the genre of FPS and RPG. As the creators define it themselves, it is a hybrid of quick action from Quake, sneaking a'la Thief and the development of a character known from Deus Ex.
The story of Reprisal is based on the conflict between 3 nations, taking place at the Joshua 20 space station somewhere at the ends of the Solar System. The people at the station created huge combat machines, CATs, to help them fight in the event of an alien invasion and the suppression of a rebellion. But when the aliens attacked, their first goal was to turn the machines against the people. Unfortunately, the plan failed, because the CATs were out of control and everyone is now fighting against everyone.
The game has been divided into missions, in which the player has the opportunity to command the representatives of each side of the conflict, so that he can learn about their unique powers and abilities, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. The CATy (Cyborg Assault Tanks) are powerful and merciless machines that use their position of strength. The humans are rather the weakest, but they adapt the fastest to changing conditions, while the aliens are masters of genetic engineering, which allows them to change their characters according to the situation. People's advantage is also the ability to use alien weapons as well as machines.
Although the action takes place from the closed spaces of the space station, the creators of Reprisal have made sure that we do not get bored during the next missions. On our way, we will encounter unusual mechanical devices, simulations of alien worlds, laboratories full of genetically mutated monsters or infected, "animated" corridors. There are also some elements that distinguish Reprisal from the "crowd" of FPS - adaptation of the character, i.e. the ability to change appearance (replacing the hand with a sword or the lower half of the body with a body with a body with wheels), the ability to destroy weapons so that they do not get into the hands of the enemy, differentiation of the damage inflicted depending on the place of hit or the combination of the mission with certain characters (injury of the alien prince in one mission will result in his weakening during another).
