A turn-based strategy game from the creators of Reus – a successful god game production. Renowned Explorers: International Society draws inspiration from Indiana Jones films, Jules Verne’s novels, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. You take control of a team of 19th century’s explorers looking for legendary treasures. They search through lost cities and untamed wilderness, facing rivals and mythical creatures standing in their way.
Renowned Explorers: International Society released on PC is the second production developed by Abbey Games known for the god game strategy – Reus. This time the title relates to films featuring Indiana Jones, novels by Jules Verne, and successful XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Mechanics
You take control of the 19th century explorers who search for legendary treasures in order to present them on an international exhibition and thus earn fame and respect and, at the same time, bring shame on rivals. As always, nothing comes easy – you need to go through lost cities and untamed wilderness, and face other explorers along with mythical creatures. The artefacts you find are kept in a museum which gains reputation with each journey and new treasure you bring in.
During gameplay you control various explorers. As the commander of the search mission, you need to assembly a team. Among available characters, there is Elvy Erikkson, the daughter of the famous explorer and Turgut Tahir – a strong and brave man. There are also other heroes with unique abilities that can be used during classic turn-based battles.
The world of Renowned Explorers: International Society is filled with mysteries and uncharted terrains. You visit, for example, a Mayan temple lay deep in the jungle or a tropical island in the Caribbean.
