Remorse: The List is a first-person survival horror for PC. The game was developed by DeppreSick Team, known from Grey modification for Half-Life 2.
Plot
The player takes on the role of a young man named Adrian. He spent ten years in an orphanage, and after he became an adult, he got his own flat - unfortunately, the first night "at home" turned out to be a real nightmare. After several hours of restless sleep, the protagonist wakes up in an abandoned warehouse, where he finds a mysterious letter and a flashlight. Without knowing how and why he found himself here or what is happening, he tries to get out of this terrifying place.
Mechanics
Remorse: The Letter resembles horror games like Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. The gameplay is about surviving in an inhospitable environment and solving puzzles. Unlike other titles, however, the gameplay isn't only based on sneaking and escaping from enemies, but also on fighting while using various weapons found during the adventure, such as a pistol or a rifle. We can carry only two weapons at the same time - one heavy and one light, e.g. a knife or a small revolver.
Adrian doesn't have a big backpack and can carry only a few items at once. It is, therefore, necessary to manage the equipment, choosing the things that we need at any given time. Some items can also be combined to create more advanced elements required for some puzzles. The notes of our character help in solving them.
Remorse: The List offers a lot of freedom. We can move around the locations freely, taking different paths to the destination and discovering various secrets.
Technical aspects
Remorse: The Letter runs on Unreal Engine 4. It is another version of the popular engine known from the Gears of War series, among others.
