Reflex Arena is an old-school FPS inspired by iconic games from the 1990s, including Quake III: Arena and Unreal Tournament. The independent Australian team Turbo Pixel Studios is responsible for its development.
Mechanics
Gameplay in Reflex Arena is based on multiplayer battles on extensive maps. We start the game by creating a character, deciding on the color and form of individual elements of the armor. In battle, we make use of an extensive arsenal, including both standard guns, rifles, as well as rocket launchers or even a laser gun. Guns not only appear regularly in certain areas of the map but are also left behind by eliminated adversaries. Since the battles are extremely dynamic, the key to success is to learn the construction of individual arenas and use that knowledge to develop effective tactics, as well as have quick reflexes and excellent skills (e.g. using such tricks as so-called "rocket jumps").
Game modes
The pillar of Reflex Arena is based on multiplayer competition, where you can play online as well as on the local network. The game offers a wide range of gameplay variants - from the classic Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, to 1v1 or 2v2 duels. Our actions are recorded on leaderboards - by gaining points, we unlock further cosmetic items, which we can equip our character with.
In addition, we can play solo, against AI-controlled bots. By interacting with the Steam Workshop platform, nothing stands in the way of unleashing our creativity and designing our own maps, which we can then share with the gamming community.
Technical aspects
Reflex Arena features decent three-dimensional visuals. Despite the fact that the visual sphere plays a secondary role here, it perfectly fulfills its task. An additional advantage of the game are undoubtedly relatively low hardware requirements - smooth gameplay can be enjoyed by owners of weaker computers as well.
