Released for PS4, XONE and PC, Red Ash is an action adventure game described as a spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends. The authors of the original game in their new studio Comcept developed it.

Plot

Red Ash PS4, XONE and PC is set on an Earth-like planet, where a long war with intelligent machines pushed the humanity to the brink of extinction. Small groups of survivors managed to rebuild fragments of the former society thanks to re-discovering technologies of a long-forgotten civilization. Searchers of artifacts of the kind are called Delvers, and the player gets to become one of them in a story-based campaign.

The story told in Red Ash starts off when a giant mobile citadel called KalKalon — one of the machines still remaining after the great war — is approaching dangerously close to the city of Great Slope. Local authorities prepared a massive cannon able to deal with the danger. The problem is that according to legends there are some incredibly precious technologies stored within KalKanon. The player assumes the role of a hero, who has to get inside the robot and retrieve artifacts stored there within 14 hours. After that time the mobile citadel comes within the cannon’s fire range and gets annihilated.

Mechanics

Red Ash for PS4, XONE and PC is a classic representative of action adventure genre with camera stuck behind the main hero’s back. In the game you basically explore maps, collect items, and avoid obstacles and traps. Besides, much emphasis was put on combat, in which you can make use of various types of firearms. Gameplay is further enriched by occasional logic puzzles as well as RPG elements that take the form of a character progression system, which lets you equip your hero with useful special abilities.
