Receiver is a first person shooter (FPS), produced by an independent Wolfire Games studio. The place of action is a building filled with deadly traps. The player, equipped only with a gun and a tape, tries to discover the secrets of the place where he found himself. The title is distinguished above all by its high level of realism in the use of firearms.

Receiver is the work of an independent Wolfire Games studio, composed by brothers David and Jeffrey Rosen. The game was created as an effect of a 7-day experiment, devoted to, among others, simulation of firearms handling and randomly generated locations.

The story of Receiver has only been loosely outlined. The action takes place inside the building, where watchtowers and armed robots are automatically placed. The player takes on the role of a hero who, equipped only with a short weapon (pistol) and a tape, has to solve the mystery of the place where he found himself.

The gameplay definitely stands out from the classic FPSs. The ambition of the Wolfire Games development team was to create the most realistic simulation of using firearms. The fun is not limited to aiming and pressing the trigger. The player must remember to remove the fuse, reload the semi-automatic gun after each magazine change, and even add cartridges.
