A classic role-play-game in which we command a team of heroes, exploring the world and destroying monsters. Our task is to find two powerful artifacts.

Star Trail is the second part of the Realms of Arkania series, initiated by Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny, released in 1992. The whole directly refers to the paper RPG system, known as Das Schwartze Auge. Star Trail is an extensive role-playing game that requires not only sensible team management, but also a thorough exploration of the world prepared by producers.

Star Trail continues the threads mentioned in the first part of the cycle. The orc invasion of Thorwal ends in defeat, but soon powerful armies are attacking other regions of the world. The player takes control of the team of heroes, who are entrusted with an extremely important mission. The main goal is to find two powerful artifacts - a magical salamander stone and a dwarf axe. Conquest of these objects will allow to contribute to the formation of alliance between elves and kransoludes, thanks to which these races together will oppose orc armies.

The actual gameplay does not differ much from what was presented in the first part of the series. The game starts with the creation of a team. Each member of the team stands out first of all by their characteristic class, determining their usefulness on the battlefield. The player can choose between warriors, hunters and mages. It is also possible to determine the details of the appearance, including the choice of gender. The fans of the serieswill also be interested in the news that the option to save the team in order to transfer it to Shadows over Riva.

Events are observed from the first person's perspective, but navigation is not smooth. All movements like Dungeon Master, Ishar or Eye of the Beholder are made in jumps. One of the main attractions of the game is the possibility of free exploration of the presented world. Quests are obtained from NPCs, and items of equipment are used or sold.

As in Blade Destiny, battles against the monsters inhabiting the game world are played in turn-based system. In addition, an isometric projection is involved. Participants of the clash move on a board consisting of fields of equal size. The game interface is very clear. You can see icons on the screen to launch the most important actions. As a curiosity it is worth adding that a separate screen can display a real-time map of the nearest area.
