Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition

Realms Beyond is a two-dimensional, isometric RPG that refers to classics such as the Baldur's Gate series or Temple of Elemental Evil, but at the same time enriches the proven formula with an open world. The title is based on an original setting, but uses the well-known and liked mechanics of D20, released by Wizards of the Coast under the so-called Open Game License v1.0a. The independent studio Ceres Games is responsible for creating this production.

Mechanics

Realms Beyond is a classic RPG, in which the world is seen from an isometric perspective. The production of Ceres Games enables the players to create and control a party of six characters. While creating our heroes, we can choose from several races (People, Dwarves, Elves, Half-elves, Halflings and Half-orcs), as well as various classes (Warrior, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Thief, Barbarian, Paladin or Hunter). While controlling our heroes, we travel through various locations, collect items, perform smaller and larger tasks and, of course, fight dangerous enemies.

Combat uses a turn-based system, which allows for precise planning of each action. The rules of the gameplay, as well as the abilities and spells of individual character classes have been taken from the popular D20 mechanics known from pen&paper RPG, also used by the popular third edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

Game modes

Realms Beyond features only a single-player mode. In addition, the game includes a powerful editor, which enables us to create our own mods and scenarios.

Technical aspects

Although Realms Beyond looks like a two-dimensional game, in reality, it is based on its own three-dimensional engine, supporting modern graphic effects (e.g. dynamic lighting) and enabling a high level of detail, such as grass swaying in the wind or flocks of birds. The game is pleasing to the eye and draws attention with its interesting aesthetics and artistic style.
