Reach for the Sun is the work of Filament Games, a studio specializing mainly in applications for smartphones and tablets. The production was created as an educational aid based on the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) didactic method.

The player's task is to ensure the proper development of virtual plants throughout their life cycle. This requires, above all, proper management of strictly limited resources (water, starch and nutrients) needed, among other things, to produce roots, leaves and flowers. Changing weather conditions, pests, weeds, etc. become an obstacle.

Four species of plants appear in the game: lilac, sunflower, three-storey and pumpkin, each of which differs not only in appearance, but also in needs and development cycle. During the game, players have the opportunity to learn more about their construction and functioning. The creators tried to explain in as accessible a way as possible, among others, how the process of photosynthesis proceeds and what is its meaning.

The game combines educational and entertainment values. Players can choose between three levels of difficulty for primary, junior high and senior high schools respectively. The uncomplicated control system used in the game is a clear tribute to the casual market audience.

Reach for the Sun visual luminaire has been made with aesthetics and simplicity of form. The game has two-dimensional graphics with a small number of animations. Noteworthy is the attached miniencyclopedia, describing individual plants and bio-chemical processes related to their functioning.
