Reach for the Stars is a turn-based space strategy produced by Strategic Studies Group, a remake of the triumphant title on 8-bit computers. The game is based on exploration, colonization and conquest of the galaxy, and players have the opportunity to confront more than 30 scenarios with Artificial Intelligence in the past or with three live opponents via the Internet or LAN.

The game interface is an area where many recent space games seem to have had problems. We've gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that that giving orders in the game is as easy as possible, and accentuates rather than detracts from the game experience.

Designing your own space jumping, enemy crushing starship should be one of the real pleasures of being a space tyrant. In RFTS, we've made the process easy, so that it's a procedure that you'll want to do.

Every side in an RFTS scenario can have its own, unique R&D tree. Since sides in an RFTS scenario aren't restricted by licences or story lines, there are effectively an infinite number of sides, which means that R&D can never become stale or predictable.

All space games do a reasonable job of managing production when there are are only a few planets, but these schemes do not scale well. By the time you have ten or more planets, managing production becomes a real chore. We have to say that the original RFTS also suffered from this fault.
