Transport Tycoon Deluxe

Simultaneously with Pirates! Gold, MicroProse decided to develop a new version of another classic hit from the early nineties, Railroad Tycoon Deluxe. This time, however, it was not decided to make such radical changes in the graphic design, offering instead a few improvements in terms of proper gameplay.

As in the original, our task in the Deluxe version is to build a transport empire based on rail transport. By connecting further cities, factories and other facilities producing goods, the player will multiply the money on his account and thus, invest in new services. Of course, all the time, the competition, realizing its own connections, often in the region, which was under your rule so far, is pushing him all the time.

There are six unspoilt areas to choose from where the construction of the rail network will soon begin: the east and west coasts of the United States, Europe, North and South America and Africa. The last two maps did not appear in the original and were prepared especially for the Deluxe version. Along with the new areas, several new raw materials have emerged, which can be transported by train. One of them are diamonds, which are abundant in Africa. In addition, the game features completely new locomotives, bandits who can kidnap your trains and the law enforcement officers chasing them.

Railroad Tycoon Deluxe works in high resolution, some new static screens have been introduced, but compared to Pirates! Gold graphic changes are minimal. Slightly better in terms of sound, we can listen to even digitized samples, imitating the spoken issues. Generally, it is an interesting development of the original, nicer in terms of appearance and giving the same, if not more satisfaction.
