A classic platform game by indie studio Slipgate. The game was funded via a Kickstarter campaign, and the studio's cooperation with THQ Nordic allowed for releasing it also for consoles. You play as the eponymous twelve-years-old boy, who finds himself in an alternative reality and becomes the protagonist of his own game. He's accompanied by an old living console called Dusty.

Rad Rodgers for PC, PS4 and XONE is a classic arcade platform game with 2.5D visuals. It was developed by Slipgate (previously known as Interceptor Entertainment). The developers used the Kickstarter website in 2016 and thus managed to gather enough money to finish the PC version of the game. In 2017, thanks to the cooperation with THQ Nordic, the console editions were also released.

Plot

The game tells the story of the adventures of a twelve-year-old boy named Rad Rodgers. In the middle of the night, after a long videogame session, he notices that his console seems to spontaneously turn on. Seconds later he finds himself sucked in by and odd energy vortex and transported to another world, where he becomes the protagonist of his own game. He is accompanied by his old console, which has come to life and calls itself Dusty.

Mechanics

Rad Rodgers is a classic arcade platform game inspired by such series as Commander Keen, Jazz Jackrabbit or Ruff 'n' Tumble, all of which utilize the 2.5D visuals. During the story campaign you have to travel through seven worlds. The game focuses on fighting varied and dangerous enemies, which you can defeat using a wide range of firearms.

There are also other features, such as journeys to another dimension called Pixelverse, which change the gameplay mechanics. During those levels you control the protagonist's companion. Dusty's task is to eliminate the opponents, which are the represent the glitches in the game. After defeating them, new paths become available and previously invincible obstacles, which prevented you from progressing, disappear.

Technical aspects

Rad Rodgers features colorful 2D visuals, resembling such productions as Trine or Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and an electronic soundtrack composed by Andrew Hulshult.
