Punk Wars is a 4X strategy game in which we can control one of several different factions in a universe that combines a number of different concepts into one coherent whole. The game was developed by the Polish company Strategy Forge.

Punk Wars is an expansive turn-based 4X strategy game focusing on military elements. The action of this game was set in a unique universe combining post-apocalyptic, steampunk, dieselpunk and atompunk elements. The game was developed by Polish Strategy Forge studio (it is their debut project). The publisher of the game is Jujubee.

Plot

The human civilization we know has collapsed, giving way to a devastated wasteland full of warrior nomads. On the rubble and ruins new societies slowly rise, based on a different, steampunk technology. The player assumes the role of a leader of one of the factions, who tries to lead his followers to domination over others.

Mechanics

Punk Wars is a strategy game belonging to the 4X subgenre, in which the action is usually observed from top-down view (although we have control over the camera). We start the game by choosing one of several available factions characterized by different style and technological thought. Our main task is to direct the chosen faction in such a way that it develops as quickly as possible.

In this game we take decisions which influence technological, military and social development. We take over new territories, build infrastructure, construct buildings and acquire valuable resources ( including water). In Punk Wars we also control armies during direct battles. These are realized in turn-based system, and the key role in them plays the appropriate use of the capabilities of individual units. It is worth noting that in the course of the game our soldiers gain experience and learn new things.

Game modes

In Punk Wars we can play only solo. The core of the game is the story campaign.

Technical aspects

Punk Wars has a 3D graphic design, which presents a decent level. The game is characterized by a unique, steampunk-post-apocalyptic atmosphere, which can really appeal. Particularly good impression is made by models of military units and buildings.
