Futuristic car races, in many ways reminiscent of the cult series "Wipeout" and "Megarace". You can choose from a dozen or so racers and various cars, which differ in appearance and performance.
Pulse Racer is a representative of the genre of dynamic, futuristic racers. In many ways this title resembles such games as Wipeout, Megarace, or Powerdrome. Jaleco Entertainment is responsible for the production of this racer and has also developed such games as Nightcaster or Goblin Commander: Unleash The Horde. Pulse Racer was created exclusively for Xbox owners. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that up to four players can play at one console. In such a situation, the duels are played on a split screen.
Even before starting the game, the player has to choose one of the several available players. Individual drivers are described by several important parameters. Then you have to buy a futuristic car. The right combination of vehicle capabilities and driver skills plays a very important role. This has an impact on the behaviour of the machine on the route. When it comes to tracks, the player can race on several different objects. The individual routes are quite varied. Some of them reward aggressive driving, while others require you to remember the corners you pass on the road. Pulse Racer also offers an exceptionally extensive route editor. The player can design his own object practically from scratch, using many ready-made elements for this purpose.
This racer offers three basic play modes. Special attention should be paid to the extended career mode, in which we have to overcome dozens of different races. As a reward for further wins we get access to better machines and more interesting routes. The other two modes are Quick Race and Time Trial, so you can try to improve your laps. The control of the car does not cause any major problems. At the same time, it is worth noting that the game offers the possibility of tilting the machine to the sides so that it can pass the turn better. The game did not run out of many interesting weapons - mines or plasma cannons. Visually, the Pulse Racer falls out quite poorly. This applies both to the cars on the map and to the routes on which the next races are held.
