Psychotoxic is a three-dimensional action game, presented using the first person's perspective. The storyline depicts the hypothetical reality of 2022, when the spectre of the final annihilation as a result of nuclear war is hovering over humanity. The documentary death of earthly civilization is to be ensured by the Fourth Rider of the Apocalypse, a destructive machine from ancient Babylon. The Devil's device is located in a complex network of corridors deep beneath the American city of New York and from there it strongly affects the minds of living beings, causing a rapid escalation of aggression. The source of hatred controls the demonic Aaron Crowley, planning to make the third planet of the Solar System a bloody arena of confrontation between good and evil. However, deus ex machina arrives in the form of a heavenly woman named Angie Prophet - the main heroine of this product (at her side temporally, but whatever actively works the mysterious Max).
Heroin must therefore put an end to the knitting of the black character by destroying the above-mentioned criminal instrument and eliminating hordes of dark minions (including psychopathic killers, gangsters, zombies, mutants, religious fanatics and monsters from the sea abyss). In addition to an extensive arsenal of classic weapons (assault rifle, rocket launcher, etc.), the fearless saviour has a wide range of magical abilities. Amongst these latter, apart from e.g. telepathy and slowing down movements of opponents, there is also the ability to penetrate into eight types of dreams (cartoons, medieval village, etc.) of selected citizens and to fight with forces of darkness. In turn, among the basic levels there are over twenty spacious locations, maintained in the urban atmosphere (the thicket of Manhattan skyscrapers, the island of the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, etc.).
In strictly technical terms, the programme represents a very high level of sophistication. Complicated real-time graphics are rendered by a proprietary "engine" called Trinigy Vision Engine, which uses a wide range of special themes within the ninth generation of Microsoft DirectX interface. On the other hand, the extremely realistic operation of the physical model is ensured by the system, baptized as ODE (the presence of the so-called rag doll effect, thanks to which the functioning of spatial objects is exceptionally natural).
