Pronty is an action platformer metroidvania developed by the independent teams 18Light Game and FunZone Games.

Plot

Pronty takes place in the underwater city of Royla, long past its glory days. Though it used to be the pride of the oceans, it's now dealing with a deadly threat brought upon by pollution and aggressive sea creatures created by it.

The main character is the titular Pronty, accompanied by a faithful friend (and his primary weapon), a robotic swordfish named Bront. Both of them decide to face the threat before it's too late, discovering Royla's secrets and the truth behind Pronty's origin.

Mechanics

Pronty is a side-scroller. The player traverses Royla, avoids traps, obstacles and faces enemies. These include both common foes as well as much more powerful bosses - giant behemoths requiring focus, speed and good reflexes. Combat is dynamic and challenging, and the player always has Bront at their side to attack their foes; the robotic swordfish is also useful during exploration, being able to move obstacles and interact with the environment. Progressing through the game rewards us with skills and upgrades, letting us face increasingly more powerful opponents and access previously unreachable locations.

There's also a boss rush mode, letting us face all the bosses encountered by Pronty during his adventure.

Technical aspects

Although its graphics are colorful and cartoonish, Pronty can be scary due to the dark locations and horrifying enemies. The game's soundtrack was composed by Paul Su, known from games such as Behind the Screen.
