Project Remedium is an original first-person action game for PC which takes place inside a human body in its entirety. The title is the debut project of Atomic Jelly, an independent studio from Poznan, Poland, that employs developers that have experiences ranging from demoscene, through indie productions, to high-budget AAA titles. The game was published by PlayWay S.A.
Plot
The action of Project Remedium takes place inside a human body in which serious, potentially terminal health problems were discovered during a routine medical treatment. Instead of typical surgical instruments, it was decided to use nanobots to rescue the organism. In the game, we assume the role of such a nanobot called Nano+ that is tasked with curing six key organs by eliminating germs and infections located therein. While playing, we are not completely alone, though — we can count on other nanobots’ help, including the veteran named SuperVisette.
Mechanics
Mechanics-wise, Atomic Jelly’s production combines elements of action adventure game and a classical first-person shooter. While playing, we explore a number of rather surreal locations such as the cardiovascular system, nerve connections, and specific human organs. Our task is to seek and neutralize various pathogens, mutated cells, and damaged nanobots which are just as dangerous to the organism. There are two weapons at our disposal: an energy gun and medicine atomizer — both of them can be enhanced with a number of new capabilities. The special grappling hook is incredibly useful during exploration by letting us travel faster and access many seemingly inaccessible places. The game is enriched with a simple crafting system that lets us create various enhancements for our nanobots.
Technical aspects
Project Remedium for PC features high-quality graphics powered by Unreal Engine 4. Because of the production’s theme, the locations we traverse are far from realistic — most of the time, we experience very unusual sceneries that reflect the appearance of various systems and organs of the human body.
