Project: Knoxville is an XONE survival action-packed multiplayer game. The project was developed by the Danish Press Play studio, known for such titles as Max and the Magic Marker or Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.
Story
Project: Knoxville presents a dystopian vision of the future. The action takes place in the reality of the futuristic version of the Earth, where there has been a rapid technological development, but at the same time it has been accompanied by the collapse of the moral system. In order to keep society under control, the authorities have started to organise regular violent competitions with no rules and the price of failure is death. Billions of people follow the tournament every day and the winners gain the status of real stars, so there is never a shortage of people willing to take part in this competition.
Mechanics
Project: Knoxville is an action-packed online game, with no single player mode. The events are observed from a camera behind the back of a character, and the battles take place on large closed maps, full of terrain obstacles, helpful objects and deadly traps.
The task of each player is to survive and eliminate the competition. While playing, we are forced to make risky decisions on a regular basis, because, on the one hand, surviving as a lonely wolf is extremely difficult, but on the other hand, allies can turn against their companions at any time. Winning requires a sense of the moment when helping our companions is no longer profitable, and the right moment to knock knives in their backs.
Technical issues
Project: Knoxville offers an attractive three-dimensional graphic design, maintained in a slightly comic style. Thanks to the hardware power of the XONE platform, the authors were able to deliver large-size maps and high level of detail.
