Project Citadel Description
Project Citadel is a science fiction RTS, enriched with elements taken from the roguelike genre. The production represents the debut work of Last Keep, an independent development studio founded by Dave Pottinger and other former employees of Ensemble Studios, whose portfolio includes games in the Age of Empires and Halo Wars series.
The plot
Project Citadel takes us to a galaxy ruled with a firm hand by the sinister Voltari Empire. During the course of the game we stand at the head of a faction whose task is to liberate this patch of space from the yoke of tyranny. The advantage over the enemies gives us a relic that allows our mothership to regenerate after destruction.
Gameplay
Project Citadel allows us to create our own faction waging war against the Voltari Empire. The main element of gameplay is interplanetary space battles observed from afar, to which we send squadrons of self-built spaceships. Among them there are both light and agile units, as well as more powerful but slower ships.
Clashes are dynamic, so during them we have to show not only tactical sense, but also the ability to make quick decisions. Losses can be replenished during the battle, so it is possible to recover from almost any oppression. In addition, we get at our disposal a number of special skills and support abilities provided by the mothership.
The missions take place on procedurally generatedmaps , and we select them from the campaign map, where we make our next moves in turn-based mode, taking turns against enemies. Thanks to a relic that allows our mothership to be reborn at the edge of the galaxy, nothing prevents us from making one more attempt to defeat enemy forces after losing.
