Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame

Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame, released on AND and iOS, is a remake of the classic 1993 platformer, the second installment of the best-selling series created by Broderbund Software. As in the case of Prince of Persia Classic, this game was developed by Ubisoft.

Plot

Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame continues the plot started in the first part of the series. The happiness of the prince with the sultan's daughter does not last too long, as the evil vizier Jaffar, defeated in the previous game, returns unexpectedly from the dead. By resorting to tricks and magic, he persuades all the guards of the kingdom to capture the prince. Our protagonist must, of course, save himself. During the escape, he will cross several Persian lands, trying to avoid chase.

Mechanics

Just like in Prince of Persia Classic, the game was created practically from scratch with a modern 3D engine, although the action is still shown from a classic side view. Unlike the first part of the series, we move not only in palace dungeons but also in open spaces. In addition to enhancing the graphics, the creators have made a number of improvements in level construction and the placement of traps and enemies. Some of the original scenes were cut out, but there are also completely new ones.

As a result, the new version of the game became much more friendly than the original from 20 years ago. The game features unlockable maps for each level, the ability to upgrade combos, life potions and a variety of other items. All of them can be purchased for coins acquired during the game, but there is also an option to buy them with real money.
