Pragmata is an action game developed by Capcom. This project was announced in 2020, and although it was initially planned to debut two years later, its production process ultimately took much longer.

Gameplay

In Pragmata the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). We explore various locations filled with advanced technology and complete mission objectives, as well as face numerous opponents. On our path, we encounter both humanoid robots, which are not impressive in size, and much larger machines that serve as bosses.

We eliminate enemies by engaging in close combat or using futuristic rifles. We can also count on the support of Diana and her technological powers – she hacks enemies, making them vulnerable to our attacks (this involves a mini-game that accompanies the battle, requiring us to multitask).

Pragmata from Capcom may seem like a game ideal for co-op. However, the developers argue that implementing such a mode would contradict their vision for this project.

Capcom's Pragmata feels like it draws inspiration from survival horror, hacking combat mechanic makes every encounter into a puzzle

When I played Pragmata last weekend at SGF, I wasn't sure what to expect. But comparing its puzzle-like combat mechanics to Resident Evil wasn't on my list.

MKAU Gaming: 9 / 10 by Dylan Kocins

Overall, Pragmata is a massive win. Innovative puzzle-based combat, great art direction and a touching story that is carried by the father/daughter-like relationship of Hugh & Diana. It continues to prove that between Resident Evil: Requiem and Pragmata, Capcom continues to fire on all cylinders in 2026.

ZdobywcyGier.eu: 9.5 / 10 by Bartosz Michalik

Is Pragmata worth playing? Absolutely. While its sometimes challenging and unconventional approach to gameplay might seem overwhelming at first, it is precisely this complexity that is its greatest strength. It’s worth giving it a chance, because you’ll quickly find that it offers a wealth of satisfaction and great fun. It’s a game that hardly anyone was expecting, and its development went largely unnoticed in the mainstream—yet, as it turned out, it was the game everyone needed. Pragmata is this year’s dark horse, which will battle other heavyweights for the title of best game of the year. I have not the slightest doubt about that.
