The action of the game Powerslave (known in Europe as Exhumed) takes us to Egypt, specifically to the ancient city of Karnak, which was captured by the mysterious forces of evil. Many daredevils entered a valley forgotten by mankind to find out what was the cause of the terrifying events that took place shortly after the intervention of supernatural forces, but none of them came back. Now it's your turn. As you enter the cursed ground, you must prepare yourself for a battle with an overwhelming enemy. Without getting into unnecessary discussions, collect weapons abandoned by your predecessors and use them to exterminate a horde of monsters. If you fail, people will no longer experience peace and quiet....
Calling for vengeance to heaven and the story is only an introduction to the slaughterhouse observed from the perspective of the first person, which was donated to us by programmers from the Lobotomy Software company. Powerslave, as befits a typical shooting, offers a slaughterhouse in its purest form using seven means of extermination. You start the struggle with a machete in hand, but after a quick exploration of the Karnak area you will find more deadly tools, such as grenades, a flame thrower or a machine gun. In the available arsenal there is also an ancient, magical stick, capable of knocking down enemies with one stroke.
Powerslave contains thirty different stages, in which structures typical for ancient Egypt will dominate. In addition to fighting near the pyramids, we will visit extensive catacombs and other labyrinths. Finding the right way in the latter is already a challenge in itself, and it must be remembered that extremely strong and bloodthirsty monsters are waiting for your life all the time.
The game is based on the Build engine, but in comparison to other productions using the same solutions (e.g. Duke Nukem 3D, Blood), it is much poorer. The authors tried to resort to a variety of programming tricks in order to give the impression of moving in full three-dimensional space, but in fact it is very far from the level presented in Quake. Monsters are still two-dimensional sprites, and the next rooms are just sectors that can't be placed one on top of the other.
