A minimalistic twin-stick shooter from the creators of the well-received Shipwreck. The gameplay focuses on flying on a circular board and eliminating incoming waves of enemies. Unlike in the classic title Asteroids, which served as inspiration for the developers of Polychromatic, the player-controlled object can move and shoot in all directions. Enemies come in the form of various geometrical shapes, and in many different colors.

Polychromatic is a minimalist, arcade shooter released on PC and XONE, belonging to the so-called twin-stick shooters genre. The game was created by an independent studio Brushfire, whose core consists of brothers Nick and Joe Gravelyn. They have made a pretty successful debut with Shipwreck, a two-dimensional adventure game inspired by legendary Zelda.

Mechanics

The mechanics of Polychromatic gameplay is extremely simple and boils down to the efficient elimination of successive waves of enemies. The battle arena is a large circle, within which we can move freely in all directions, shooting independently in any direction. During the game we are constantly being attacked by more or less numerous groups of opponents. Due to the game's minimalistic concept, we are not dealing here with any specific creatures, but groups of geometric figures of different shapes and colors (which is also suggested by the game's title). The gameplay takes place at a rather fast pace and due to the control model, it works best when playing with a gamepad.
