Polaris Sector for PC is a space 4X strategy game. It’s the debut project of SoftWarWare.

Plot

The action of Polaris Sector for PC takes place in the eponymous Polaris sector. This chunk of the galaxy is a place where a brutal struggle for resources and territory between several powerful factions takes place. The player assumes control over a new such faction which has just begun to build its position. Our task is to, naturally, forge a true empire. It is not an easy taks, though, for the races that inhabit this area won’t give up their spheres of influence without a fight.

Mechanics

Polaris Sector for PC is a classical 4X space strategy game. While playing, we have to ensure proper resource supply, colonize planets, organize the economy, develop technology, and wage wars. When starting a new game, a new galaxy comprising of up to 900 starts, is randomly generated. The players have rich configuration capabilities – we can modify such factors as presence and strength of other factions and pirates, race count, or rarity of raw materials.

Polaris Sector provides a lot of freedom in terms of expanding our civilization. Apart from winning military conflicts, it is also essential to deal with diplomacy and shape our technological development. The latter element is much more extensive than in typical 4X strategy games. For example, we can invest both in particular inventions or support more general research that could potentially result in breakthroughs that give us entirely new possibilities.

Polaris Sector features an advanced system of constructing and modifying spaceships which offers nearly limitless possibilities in creating our own units. In battles, we can make use of rich tactical options. Combat takes place in real time but the game pauses in key moments in order to let us issue orders without a rush.
