Planetary Annihilation: Titans

Planetary Annihilation: Titans for PC is an extended edition of 2012's strategy game Planetary Annihilation, which was financed on Kickstarter. The game was created by Uber Entertainment – a team popular for titles such as Monday Night Combat or Super Monday Night Combat. Apart from all the contents from the base game included in Titans, the player will find here a series of new elements. Above all, the creators introduced 21 new units, five of which belong to the powerful class of Titans. Furthermore, the game brings new planets with multi-layered terrains – those new environments are available both in the single-player mode and when playing with others. All of this is complemented by the Bounty mode, an improved tutorial, as well as rebalanced gameplay.

Although Titans has a pricetag of a regular game, those who gave their support to Planetary Annihilation at least once on Kickstarter, received this new edition for free. On the other hand, those who owned the core game (purchased on Steam before August 18, 2015) can get Planetary Annihilation: Titans for 66% less.

Mechanics

The basic patterns used in Planetary Annihilation: Titans for PC were based on the legendary RTS game – Total Annihilation. The warfare theater here encompasses entire planetary systems, which are turned into huge battlefields. The player can choose to take over subsequent chunks of space step by step, using regular weaponry. However, one can become a planet destroyer instead, for example – such a figure is capable of launching meteorites at enemies.

Virtual economy plays an important role in the game. The player establishes bases and obtains resources allowing to construct subsequent buildings, such as those for production of units. The subordinates can be sent either to battle or defend conquered areas. The creators from Uber Entertainment decided to implement a very modest interface. As a result, the player supervises all their actions from one panel, in a convenient manner. At the same time, the player retains their insight into the situation in other regions.

Game modes

Planetary Annihilation: Titans for PC offers several game modes, most of which were designed with the multiplayer experience in mind (up to 40 players). However, the player can also compete against the AI (skirmish), as well as launch the Galactic War campaign. Interestingly, in the latter case, the galaxy is randomly generated for each approach, which provides a unique experience for every playthrough.
