Story
The son of the famous adventurer Pitfall Harry, Pitfall Harry Jr., follows a legendary treasure and embarks on another dangerous expedition. Suddenly, he is transferred to another dimension. There he meets Mira, who asks him for help in the fight against dark forces. The adventurer undertakes the challenge, expecting to gain many valuables at the same time.
Mechanics
Pitfall 3D uses elements typical of the genres. The hero completes seubsequent levels, full of arcade challenges, traps, and opponents. In the fight against the latter he uses his trusty pickaxe, as well as wit and reflexes. The devs, referring to the old installment of the series, have created many obstacles that await the players. There are also wide chasms, which have to be crossed on ropes made of vines or on flying platforms, rotating poles with blades or treacherous sinkholes. In addition, the developers used a fictional universe to put a strange monster on Pitfall's way, which is a product of the designers' imagination. An element that distinguishes the game from its competitors is the often changing perspective. Depending on the level, the camera presents the action in isometric projection, from the bird's eye view or in a way typical for side-scrolled platformers.
Technical aspects
Pitfall 3D is a three-dimensional game combining elements of science-fiction and fantasy. Christian Gossett, a comic book artist, is responsible for the design of characters and opponents. In the game, we can hear the voices of Bruce Campbell and Catherine Sutherland.
