An action-adventure game with RPG features. It is based on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Except for the title and the presence of some common motives (most of all the Black Pearl ship), the game has little in common with the movie. It was at first developed as sequel to Sea Dogs, another similar game created by studio Akella, but the popularity of the movie caused the change of the title.

Pirates of the Caribbean for PC and XBX is a hybrid of action and adventure genres. The title debuted simultaneously on Xbox and personal computers. PlayStation 2 version was planned as well, but in the end it was cancelled. As the title suggests, the game is related to the movie blockbuster released in 2003, which starred Johnny Deep and Orlando Bloom. However, the connection between the game and the movie isn’t strong. This game was at first developed as an official sequel to Sea Dogs, but after acquiring the license a decision to change the title was made. Due to that, the player completes tasks that weren’t featured in the movie. Xbox version is very similar to PC version. The only greater difference can be found in controls, which was created with Microsoft console in mind (which leaves PC users at a slight disadvantage).

Plot

The story of Pirates of the Caribbean for PC and XBX is related to the treasure known from the movie – the player can try to find it in the game. However, early in the game the player must focus on other activities, including discovering the plans of French army that conquered one of the English islands in the area.
