Pirates of the Caribbean

An action-adventure game with RPG features. It is based on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Except for the title and the presence of some common motives (most of all the Black Pearl ship), the game has little in common with the movie.

PC XBOX

Pirates of the Caribbean for PC and XBX is a hybrid of action and adventure genres. The title debuted simultaneously on Xbox and personal computers. PlayStation 2 version was planned as well, but in the end it was cancelled. As the title suggests, the game is related to the movie blockbuster released in 2003, which starred Johnny Deep and Orlando Bloom. However, the connection between the game and the movie isn’t strong. This game was at first developed as an official sequel to Sea Dogs, but after acquiring the license a decision to change the title was made. Due to that, the player completes tasks that weren’t featured in the movie. Xbox version is very similar to PC version. The only greater difference can be found in controls, which was created with Microsoft console in mind (which leaves PC users at a slight disadvantage).

Plot

The story of Pirates of the Caribbean for PC and XBX is related to the treasure known from the movie – the player can try to find it in the game. However, early in the game the player must focus on other activities, including discovering the plans of French army that conquered one of the English islands in the area.

Mechanics

Pirates of the Caribbean for PC and XBX is a game with open world. The player can plan his steps and participate in the missions he wishes to. During the game it is possible to visit various cities, buy new equipment, participate in fights and sword duels. The title also offers impressive sea battles with two or more ships participating. While on the sea, the player must consider various hazards like the presence of other pirates or bad weather.

Technical aspects

The game looks very good. Ship models and water are especially well made. Pirates of the Caribbean was made for single player and it features no multiplayer modes.
