Pirate Commander Description
Pirate Commander is a strategy game in which we play the role of the captain of a pirate ship, who plunders ships and seeks treasures on the seas and oceans. The game offers an extensive gameplay - from providing supplies to steering the ship during battles. The Polish RockGame studio is responsible for its development. The publisher is PlayWay.
Mechanics
In the Pirate Commander we look at the action from different perspectives - the camera moves, showing us the ship from different sides (we often also see its cross-section). The main task of the player is to explore the open world and manage the ship. This requires making various decisions concerning, among other things, equipment, behaviour and morale of the crew (including e.g. diet, entertainment and amount of sleep) or fighting fires. We also deal with supplies.
An important part of the game are the sea battles, during which we have to react on an ongoing basis to the enemy's behaviour and the situation on the ship (we give orders to individual crews and manually control the guns). For the acquired and stolen treasures we can develop our ship (we buy improvements in ports).
It is worth noting that, although game is rather realistic, some supernatural elements can be found in it (e.g. krakens - powerful sea beasts).
Game modes
In Pirate Commander we can only play alone. The core of the game is the single player mode.
Technical aspects
Pirate Commander offers attractive, three-dimensional graphic design. Models of ships, characters and creatures look very nice and are well animated, but definitely the best impression is made by weather effects and realistic water (waves swaying reliably, which positively affects the atmosphere of game).
