Phantom Fury is a retro-style FPS. It is a sequel to the popular shooter Ion Fury from 2019. It was not made by the authors of the original, i.e. people from the Voidpoint studio. Instead, the game was produced by the team known for GRAVEN, Slipgate Ironworks, and the creators of the first part only helped the new team.
Plot
The action of the game is set several years after the events of the original. The heroine of the first part wakes up from a coma to discover that she has been equipped with a bionic arm possessing a number of gadgets useful in combat. The woman is quickly given a new mission - to find a mysterious artifact with unimaginable destructive power before it falls into the hands of the villains.
A big attraction for fans of old-school FPS is a guest appearance by John R. Blade, the main protagonist of the SiN series.
Game mechanics
Phantom Fury is a classic first-person shooter, referring to productions from the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Thus, the gameplay is mainly focused on fighting hordes of enemies with the help of a rich arsenal of various weapons.
The authors took care of dynamic skirmishes and high interactivity of the environment. We can, among other things, pilot helicopters, solve puzzles, hack into computer systems and play slot machines.
More than 20 types of weapons have been put at players' disposal, which we can modify. Added to this is the possibility to unlock new powers for the bionic arm.
Game modes
The game has only a single-player mode.
Technical aspects
The game was made in a retro style. However, it differs strongly from Ion Fury. While the original was inspired by Duke Nukem 3D (the game even used the same engine, the Build Engine), presenting enemies in the form of two-dimensional sprites, Phantom Fury relies on fully three-dimensional graphics, inspired by the unreleased version of Duke Nukem Forever from 2001.
