Petz Sports: Dog Playground is another installment in the Ubisoft Petz game series, which greatly resembles Nintendogs series. The game was released exclusively on Nintendo Wii.
Before starting the game proper you chose one of 18 dog breeds (including Dalmatian, Dachshund and German Shepherd). You may also select extra accessories for your canine friend, including hilarious collars, hats, or glasses. You receive new items as you progress in the game.
The gameplay almost entirely focuses on playing with your dogs. It is noteworthy that Dog Playground offers full support to unique capabilities of Wii controller. The player has to manipulate Wiimote following the on-screen instructions and precision is appropriately rewarded.
The list of games you can play with the animals includes, but is not limited to, stick fetching, playing with a jump rope, or throwing a ball. You may also teach your dog over 20 different tricks. Every time the pet performs a trick correctly, it is rewarded with its favorite treat. On advanced game stages it can also take part in dog sport competitions. These are mostly obstacle courses that the animals have to beat as quickly as possible. In the meantime you have to take care of the animal’s basic needs (feeding, bathing, etc.).
Dog Playground has neat graphics with fully 3D environment. The stress was put on realistic reactions of dogs to player’s actions.
