An arcade game reminiscent of the classic Space Invaders convention. When controlling a flying dog with huge ears instead of wings we have to overcome 53 levels (including 5 bosses), shooting at everything that moves and collecting potions that increase the power of our weapons.
PetWings is an arcade action game of the genre of shoot 'em up, whose protagonist was the cult Space Invaders from 1978. Also in this case, the title is the responsibility of the creators from the Land of the Cherry Blossom, and more specifically the Saito Games studio. It is known for its many productions designed for people of all ages, distinguished by colorful, cartoon graphics.
In the game we control a flying dog with big ears, which is equipped with a deadly weapon. The aim of PetWings is to overcome 53 levels, each of which has a specific background. Facing many types of enemies, including slugs, wasps, eagles and squids, our hero has to eliminate all enemies and collect special concoctions. After completing 50 of them, the power of his weapon is increased. From time to time huge bosses appear on our way, such as a Chinese snake or a demon from Japanese mythology.
The game has only one game mode. A very easy control should be saved as a plus. The creators tried to make the emerging enemies so diverse that the fun in PetWings was exciting until the very end.
Graphically, we are dealing with a two-dimensional production, characterized by a large number of colours and colors, and a style that draws on the tradition of Japanese animated films. The music is extremely dynamic and well reflects the fast rhythm of the game in the production of Saito Games studio.
