Persist Online is a free-to-play MMORPG production set in a world overrun by zombies. The game was developed by the German studio CipSoft, which gained global recognition from a similar genre project titled Tibia.

Gameplay

In Persist Online we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game provides us with a vast, open world that we can freely explore, discovering its picturesque corners and looking into each building. The game has implemented both a day-night cycle and variable weather conditions.

The core of the game is fight for survival, the chance of which is increased by the resources we collect. The key to acquiring rare and valuable resources are special nodes located at strategic points on the map, which we must take over and defend in order to maintain control over them. Our base of operations, however, is a bunker where we can prepare for the next escapades.

The crafting system implemented in the game allows us to manufacture new equipment and upgrade the gear we already have. Among the elements of the equipment, weapon we produce by hand or find in the game world take the lead. Firearms are important, because there are threats here at every step, and the danger comes not only from zombies controlled by AI, but also from other players.

Given that adversaries often have an advantage over us, it is usually better to avoid enemies or eliminate them using melee weapons, rather than engaging in a fight with loud firearms in hand. If we die on the battlefield our opponents can take all the loot we had with us and that also encourages cautious action.

As we progress, we not only accumulate better equipment, but also develop our character. The game has implemented a classless system, so the direction in which we develop our hero or heroine is determined by the skills we unlock.

Game modes

Persist Online only allows for online multiplayer gameplay. We can try playing alone, but it is recommended to set up our own guild or join one of the existing ones and explore the game world as a team. It should be remembered that in the game there is so-called friendly fire, which means that both our opponents and allies can kill us.
