A Polish survival game about surviving on Earth that has become an icy wasteland. Permafrost is about finding shelter, setting up animals traps, monitoring temperature and exploring cities destroyed by a global cataclysm. We can play alone or with friends in coop.
Permafrost is the first project of the Polish studio SpaceRocket Games and another representative of the survival genre. The game transports us to the near future, in which Earth has become an icy wasteland.
Plot
In 2035, a cataclysm related to the phases of the Moon plunged the Earth into deep freeze. Humanity is facing a struggle for survival in the frozen wasteland. Searching for essential supplies, the protagonist of Permafrost discovers the dark secrets of the past.
Gameplay
The game offers a third person view, as well as popular mechanics known from other survival titles. Taking care of hunger by cultivating plants and managing resources, we explore the world with a dog by our side, collect scrap to make tools and build shelters, and fight with wild animals or members of enemy factions. Both makeshift weapons and firearms can be used during combat.
We can unite with other characters to rebuild society. Whether venturing deep into a cave or setting a bear trap, we monitor the temperature, which affects the abilities of the controlled character. Staying warm is a key element Permafrost.
Co-op
Permafrost allows to fight for survival both alone and in co-op mode with up to four friends.
Engine
Permafrost runs on Unreal Engine 5.
