Perish

Perish is a dynamic FPS developed mainly for multiplayer gameplay. It was developed by an independent British studio ITEM42 and published by HandyGames.

Plot

Perish takes us on a journey to a place called Purgatory. It's a dark, gloomy land, as if suspended between the world of the living and the paradise known as Elysium. During the game we play as a tormented soul, who takes part in a bloody ritual, trying to find a way to salvation.

Mechanics

In Perish we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The gameplay is mainly about eliminating hordes of enemies, inspired by creatures from various myths. Apart from minor adversaries appearing in mass quantities, much more powerful bosses stand on our way. Dynamic battles take place in different corners of Purgatory. We are talking about ruined temples, volcanic cliffs or huge forges, as well as gigantic labyrinths and lakes filled with liquid gold.

We start the game equipped only with a chipped sword. However, as we eliminate hordes of enemies we gain danake, which is the local currency. Obtained money we can spend on buying more powerful equipment or improving the one we already have. With time, we get more and more sophisticated tools of murder - we're talking about both cold weapons (like axes and javelins) and firearms (like machine guns, rifles and revolvers). Our combat potential is also increased by crowns and rings, which provide us with various additional advantages.

No matter how powerful we are, during the game we have to be constantly on guard. After death on the battlefield we lose all the riches we have gained. Fortunately, nothing stands in the way of the use of deposits and in this way secure the accumulated goods.

Game modes

Although Perish can be played solo, the game is designed for cooperative gameplay between three players. In co-op mode, players can resurrect each other, as well as use special gadgets and weapons.

Technical aspects

Perish runs on Unreal Engine 4 technology. The graphic design was kept in a dark style, enhanced by sparse colours and lighting of the locations. The whole presents a high level of quality. Weapon models and enemy models, rich in detail, are especially impressive, as is the detailed environment.
