It affects usually the well-off, who fall into a sleep they cannot wake from, and neither scientists nor doctors are able to reverse the process. What is worse, however, nightmarish creatures have entered Norrath as a result of a conflict between three powerful gods.

The expansion was developed by Daybreak Game Company, a studio that takes care of the franchise since its birth. The plot of EverQuest II: Destiny of Velious concentrates on the twin Souls of Destiny – according to the prophecy, taking away their power will start the end of the age, a war that is supposed to consume the whole Norrath. The players are tasked with stopping such outcome.

Due to uncertainties related to the rights to the Fallout brand and the publisher's financial problems, work on the game was halted.
