A city-builder devoid of combat, set in the times of Ancient Rome. In Pax Augusta we build our ancient city from scratch, playing the role of a governor and completing emperor's tasks. The game puts a lot of focus on historical realism and attention to detail.
Pax Augusta is a city builder developed by Swiss developer Roger Gassmann, in which we undertake the construction of an ancient city under the watchful eye of Roman emperors. In order to lend authenticity, the creator visited many museums and read a lot of books on ancient Rome.
Historical realities
Pax Augusta Campaign is based on the writings of the Roman historian Tacitus, who lived at the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D., and offers historically mapped units and buildings (excluding the color issue). The game's architecture includes traditional baths, sprawling fora, bustling markets and countless places of worship, among others. The title is also characterized by its attention to detail, for example, depicting the Colosseum as containing standing places for the poor and slaves.
Gameplay
As a fresh governor, we start with a small settlement to transform it into a bustling metropolis under the watchful eye of the emperor. To achieve this, we erect the necessary infrastructure, manage imports and exports and take care of the needs of the inhabitants, including such basic ones as food and water.
As the level of worker satisfaction decreases, the risk of rebellion increases. In addition, we are threatened by natural disasters, pestilence or political power struggles. Our position depends on the will of the emperors, whose demands can be unpredictable and extravagant.
Although Pax Augusta is devoid of combat mechanics, it is possible to conduct conquests. These bring us resources, and at the same time the wrath of foreign przyw?c?s, the effect of which is that our city can become a pawn in the game of another political player.
Game modes
In addition to the story campaign, Pax Augusta allows you to play in a sandbox mode, where you develop your Roman gr?d without limits.
Engine
Pax Augusta strategy runs on the Unity engine.
