Pavilion for PC, PS4 and PSV is an isometric adventure game tackling the theme of dreams. It’s the debut title of an independent studio VisionTrick Media.
Gameplay
The authors described their title as a game with action seen from a fourth person perspective. Actually, this atypical definition simply means that we do not receive direct control over the main character. Instead, we control the being that looks after the protagonist, influencing his movements through manipulation of environment and the senses of our hero. The story takes place in a world taken straight out of dreams, which is secret not only for us, but also for the human protagonist. Here, both real and fantastic elements have been entwined into one (in)coherent reality. Our task is to help our human to discover the secret behind this place.
Mechanics
The human protagonist is controlled by an advanced AI module. The player receives the ability to manipulate various items found in the game world, and influence sounds, lights, and other elements that change the way in which our human looks at the world around him. These tools are used to control the hero’s behavior, allowing us to force him to do certain actions.
Technical Aspects
The action in Pavilion is seen from an isometric perspective, unusually for adventure games. The visuals are one of the strongest elements of the game. The authors created the virtual world using photos, drawings, and computer-generated elements, creating pretty unusual, but visually attractive mix.
