Pac-Man World may not be Pac-Man World 2 like I’d hoped, but it’s still a solid classic platformer with enough unique elements to help it stand out. Those who have played the original will no doubt appreciate the nostalgia, but those like me who missed it originally will still have a good time.

Pac-Man World Re-PAC Edition might be worth checking out if you’re extremely curious about the game, genre, or even the time period it comes from, but there are just better games to spend your time with. If you insist then just try to get it on sale, or better yet, during its inevitable visit to Xbox Game Pass before making its way to the bargain bin.

Pac-Man World: Re-Pac takes an already-great game on PS1 and makes it even better.

Plot
In Pac-Man World Re-Pac we take on the role of Pac-Man, who arrives home on his birthday. To his horror, the protagonist discovers that his entire family and all the friends who came to his birthday party have been kidnapped by ghosts. The protagonist has no choice but to set out for Ghost Island and rescue his loved ones, as well as deal with Toc-Man, who is behind all the chaos.
Game mechanics
In Pac-Man World Re-Pac, we observe the action from a top-down view. We move through levels, in which we jump on platforms, avoid ghosts, as well as eat fruits and get various power-ups. Among the latter, Metal Pac-Man, which allows the hero to move underwater, and Mega Pac-Man, allowing the protagonist to hunt ghosts, lead the way. In addition, long and challenging clashes with bosses await. In total, there are six extensive levels to visit, maintained in a variety of aesthetics: a pirate location, ruins, a playground, a factory, a mansion and even a space stage.
Game modes
In addition to the story mode, in Pac-Man World Re-Pac an unlockable original mode (in which we can see how the original from 1999 looked like) awaits checking. In addition, the game offers a set of additional mazes, kept in the spirit of classic Pac-Man.
Technical aspects
Compared to the original, Pac-Man World Re-Pac stands out due to a thoroughly refreshed graphics. In addition, the authors bent over the controls and introduced a number of improvements, thanks to which the whole meets modern standards.
