An innovative arcade game focusing on multiplayer modes created by Dlala Studios. The gameplay takes place on a common map, while up to four players clash in different gameplay modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and King of the Hill. What makes Overruled! stand out among similar titles, is the fact that the players can use special cards to change the game rules at any moment.

Overruled is a two-dimensional arcade game designed for multi-player gameplay, focusing on the competition between players in different, dynamically changing modes of play. The producer of the title is a small, independent studio Dlala, and the role of publisher of the game on the PC, PS4 and XONE platform was taken over by Team 17, known mainly from the Worms series.

Mechanics

In terms of gameplay mechanics Overruled! resembles somewhat early versions of the cycle in question Worms The only difference is that the competition takes place here in real time. The game takes place on a common board, where the players playing the characters available in the game, can move in any direction, jump and protect themselves behind various shields. In order to eliminate enemies you can use melee attacks or one of the wide range of available weapons. Each match lasts 5 minutes and the winner is the player with the highest number of points.

Game modes

Overruled! allows you to have fun in local or online multiplayer mode, designed for 2 - 4 players. The competition can be held in one of the typical game modes, such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill or Capture the Flag. All the originality of the game lies in the fact that the rules and assumptions of the game can be dynamically changed by any of the players with the help of special cards, many times during one match. This introduces a fun element of surprise and the need to quickly adapt to the new rules of the game. These cards can also have many other effects, such as temporarily preventing melee attacks or doubling or limiting the number of points scored. We can also block the possibility of changing the mode in a situation, when the currently played variant of the game is more suitable for us.

Technical issues

Overruled! on the PC, PS4 and XONE platform is characterized by a relatively simple but extremely colorful graphic design. The hand-drawn graphics of the game are kept in a characteristic, slightly caricatured style.
